Pot scubbers any good?

I see that some diy'ers utilize the plastic pot scrubbers for their bio-media in fish tanks with great results, everyone here use these on a larger scale in the ponds with same keen results?
Wonder if these would work in shower filters too? They are super cheap to purchase.

I like the idea! If it works on a small scale it should piece of work on a large calibration.

I would just be weary equally to what brand you get a lot of these things like sponges, scrubbers and luffas accept anti microbial agents in them to make them more resistant to bacteria growth. Could b detrimental to fish health.

I recollect these cheapos will not be that fancy with anti bacterial agents in them I can see some of the proper name brands may have it ...good betoken to look out for.

I bought a about one-hundred of them from the Dollar shop at 6 for $ane and apply them for the filter in my QT. I keep meaning to put some in a nylon mesh purse and go on information technology in the sump of my principal pond filtration organisation. That way, when I need to ready the QT, I will have seeded filter media. I tried putting them loose in the sump, and they ended up clogging one of the pumps. A mesh bag should work.

I had used them for the last 4 years from the dollar store. Seemed to work smashing. Tossed them this year. Fourth dimension to get some more.

This is an old chart, and who knows how accurate, only they show potscrubbers to accept pretty skilful amount of expanse. Better than Matala, Springflow strapping, Japanese matting and bioballs ...

I accept used them, years agone, in mesh laundry bags, in an upflow butt that had an air manifold in the bottom similar an S&One thousand filter. Used air to accident them clean and information technology worked well. Hauling them out to clean would have been way more than of a task.

I also sewed a bunch together with polyester cord in one case to line a prefilter with! They fabricated a nice removable insert.

well that is only clever! I love finding things similar this that work better for other purpose then what they where original intended for. These inexpensive pot scrubbers suck for dishes just work darn well as bio-media. Ha! don't tell the manufacturers this or these things might just go manner upward in price, considering they might just color them black and sell as bio media.
And so I say hither is to you MR. Pot Scrubber Maker Guy.

now off to go become some new stuff for me pond
